ER: Stop making episodes! JUST END IT!

Stop it, just stop it! Son of a bitch! We are not interested in your final final no really this is the final next to last final final episode. Your show was on when we were in high school and not in a good way. Just end the fucking series already. We don't care that George Clooney is coming back. Honestly, where he chooses to whore himself out is none of our concern. Obviously Clooney agrees that ER is plague on network television which is why he begrudgingly agreed to come back but won't let you mention his name in any of the promos. Well son of a bitch that makes it even worse. Every fucking promo says "Tune in...ALL of your favorites will be back" "ALLLLLL of them" "You know that one guy you are thinking of? YES, he will be back!" "You never know who will show up (but you do! wink!)" "Look at this picture of Julianna Margulies...remember who she used to date a decade ago?! Yes YES HIMMMM!!!"

Our advice to you ER - Look up dying gracefully in the dictionary and DO THAT!

Avocados and Dogs

People who don't like avocados = shady.

People who don't like dogs = shady.

People who don't like dogs OR avocados = dead to us.

We've known for some time that truly the best people love dogs and avocados. We are now ready to take it a step further and say that if a person has an aversion to either avocados or dogs, that something must be off. Recently, this theory proved itself once again. Leslie was at dinner with a potential mate of a good friend. Wanting to give her the benefit of the doubt, Leslie bit her tongue when she ordered her tacos without avocado. (WHY DON'T YOU JUST ORDER LIFE WITHOUT SUNSHINE YOU INGRATE?!) Well as it turns out she was shady and quite possibly dead to us.

So, dear friend, consider yourself better off. You deserve someone who doesn't slap God in the face for the wonders he's given us.

Audrey Kate Greywoode is a great name and an even better niece

As a couple who will be making a similar decision soon, we have to applaud Ashley and Jewel's choice of a name for their daughter (our niece). Audrey Kate Greywoode is a beautiful name that is neither run-of-the-mill nor overly peculiar. We have not heard whether the Hepburns were specifically called out here but regardless, the graceful Audrey, a soft sounding name that is delicate, followed by the shorter name of Kate, which is typically a nick-name, strikes the perfect balance. The use of the nickname version for Kate is a great choice because it adds some panache to the name without going off the reservation. While Audrey is a name of soft sounds and vowels, Kate is just a K and a T, two of the hardest sounding letters in the alphabet, put together in a cute one-syllable name that complements the more fancy-pants names of Audrey and Greywoode both in sound and number of syllables.

Or, in short, we love it.

Our dog is gifted

Hobbes has not had an accident in the house in about 3 weeks. Ergo, he is the smartest dog alive. Ergo some more, we are going to be the best parents ever.

Did we mention how cute he is?

Cussing on blogs

Leslie and I don't cuss much. In general, we're civilized folk. We like fancy food, good music, and are polite and well-spoken. But when it comes to blogs, son of a bitch, cussing just feels so right. Apparently, according to Ethan, I only cuss when it's in blog form or when Jason doesn't clear the puck up the boards. I think I've calmed down about hockey since our first season but Heroes still needs to know what's up. And really, what better forum is there fo cussing? For the record though, I'm not going to try to string together some obscenities now just for the sake of it. Just head over to Watching and Judging and read pretty much anything.

Crunchy Peanut Butter

Why even eat peanut butter if you want to obliterate any resemblance to the peanut? And also, who doesn't love crunching? Crunchy sandwiches are underrated.

Being Supportive of Friends

Especially friends who are enrolling in culinary school and need subjects on whom to practice new and exciting cooking techniques. We support the shit out of those friends.

Heroes: Fuck You, Heroes.

That is all.

Lost: You better be going somewhere with this

But seriously Lost, we have been watching you for years now and I still don't know what the hell is going on. I love the show and I continue to watch, but I swear, I am going to be so pissed if you've just been making this all up as you go along and you have no idea how you're going to end it. Do not be Twin Peaks. So help me, Lost . . .

Mastiffs; More Specifically, Hobbes

Getting a mastiff was something both Leslie and I agreed on. More specifically, we agreed that it was the dog for us both before and after we knew we were having a baby. We both love dogs so we knew that we wanted to get one. Among other dogs, we both like boxers and bulldogs. In lamenting that boxers have too much energy and bulldogs have too little, we realized that both dogs are bred from the Mastiff. The more we looked into Mastiffs the more we loved them. They are low energy dogs that are friendly and great with kids. They're a healthy breed that lives to be 10-15 years old. This is an extremely high number for a large dog. The best reason I can think of is that the breeding and inbreeding of dogs to get them to be really small or to look a certain way causes numerous genetic health problems. And since the old breed mastiff has not been bred into what it is today, there is more healthy stock in these dogs. From what I can tell, the mastiff breed has not changed since when they fought alongside the English against the Romans. Old. Large breeds inherently are at risk for certain ailments but when you compare the life expectancy of a mastiff to the four year life expectancy of a Irish Wolf Hound, which is a more recently bred dog, the difference is clear.

Asparagus: the motivation for this blog

Asparagus is overrated. It doesn't taste good at all but some people claim to love it. Leslie and I are both of the opinion that nobody really likes asparagus; some people just really like hollandaise sauce. Asparagus is just a more pretentious version of celery, which has no real flavor but is used mainly as a delivery system for dip or peanut butter or cream cheese.

This fundamental agreement between Leslie and me motivated me to start this blog where we would chronicle these small victories of agreement.
